The Breaking Winds Bassoon Quartet to Perform at Mansfield University

The Breaking Winds Bassoon Quartet (BWBQ), a one-of-a-kind chamber ensemble that combines classical training with pop culture and theatrics. the members of the BWBQ began performing together in 2008 while they were undergraduate students at the Eastman School of Music. Four women wielding four bassoons, the BWBQ operates as a band, traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad to present high-energy shows of their own material. The quartets' repertoire--by turns baroque, funky, cinematic and class, reflects the diverse musical tastes of its members. Dancing, skits, and accessory instruments set a joyous and eccentric tone, and comedic touches serve to both celebrate and poke fun at the rich traditions of Western music. The result is a product that is current and creative. BWBQ will also be in residence at MU on the day of the concert, presenting an Entrepreneurship and Performers Workshop from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the Butler Center, Room 163.
