MU Chamber Singers to Present "The Feminine Touch"

The Mansfield University Chamber Singers will present "The Feminine Touch," a concert featuring compositions by women composers. The program, under the direction of Peggy Dettwiler, includes works by Hildegard Von Bingen, the first known female composer from the 12th century and ground-breaking composers from the 19th century, Fanny Mendelssohn (sister of Felix) and Clara Schumann (wife of Robert). Other works include Three Madrigals by Emma Lou Diemer, Walk On Up To Heaven by Gwyneth Walker, which was commissioned in memory of Mansfield's first woman coach Helen Lutes, and America, The Beautiful. The singers are selected by a rigorous audition from the membership of the renowned MU Concert Choir.
